The Port Of Ocho Rios

Home of Beautiful Gardens and Waterfalls

The resort town of Ocho Rios welcomes thousands of visitors each year. Even without a major airport, its active cruise port and scenic highway connection makes it a choice destination for quick and fulfilling day trips.

The Ocho Rios cruise port is perfectly positioned near multiple signature attractions of the city; in fact, groups of ship passengers are often observed strolling in the warmth of the Jamaican sunshine touring the town. While travelling to your chosen excursions, keep your eyes peeled for local performers along the way ready to share their eye-catching acts with you.

Things to Do in Ocho Rios

Rivers and Beaches

Possibly the country of Jamaica’s top attraction, Dunn’s River Falls is also one of the closest to the cruise port at just a five-minute drive away. Before you even see it, the roar of 180 feet of naturally flowing cascades pouring into the Caribbean Sea can be heard from the road. The entrance to the world-renowned attraction is directly across from the souvenir-clad Dunn’s River Craft Market that is sandwiched between two restaurants. In addition to joining a human chain to climb its summit, this venue also offers other activities you can cross off your bucket list. Soar high above for a new perspective of the magnificent falls with Chukka Caribbean's Aerial Outpost, or party with a bottomless cold beer in hand, plus a serving of good island vibes on a catamaran cruise.

You may also choose to cool off in the chilled waters of a river and warm saltiness of the sea on a smaller scale. Shortly before you reach Dunn’s River, look out for a vendor-lined area with a steep descent. This marks the entry point to the family favorite Little Dunn’s River Falls. Another nearby tucked away estuary, just two more minutes away, is the picture-perfect Laughing Waters that was featured in the first James Bond movie. More rivers to choose from, such as Konoko Falls, rush down the hillside 5-10 minutes away from the port in another direction.

Enjoy the Outdoors

The outdoor Reggae Hill property is a relaxing scene cradled in nature, perfect for a lazy afternoon by the silent riverside only 15 minutes away from your ship. For more encounters along the crystal-clear river, glide on the water lined by colorful fishing boats and arced by a bridge while perched on a bamboo raft throne. For a little more speed, Chukka Caribbean's river tubing adventure will push you along the stream as the rapids splash onto your face.

There’s always a party somewhere in the heartbeat of the world! Shake and shimmy while enjoying tropical cocktails on the sandy beach of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville or on the elevated bar and restaurant overlooking the pier at Oceans on the Ridge.

Before reboarding the ship, make an effort to get some Ocho Rios shopping done. Interact with and support local vendors at the Ocho Rios Craft Market, stocked with handmade goods and delightful knickknacks. If you’re running short on time, luckily the cruise port is less than three minutes away from two major shopping centres: Island Village and Taj Mahal.
