PLIE for the Arts is a culturally inspired organization made up of artistes from various companies in Jamaica, with a mandate to further develop dance through workshops, seminars and international dance scholarships.

The organisers have been successful in providing scholarships in dance to Jamaican dancers to the prestigious Alvin Ailey School and Complexions Contemporary’s highly competitive New York Dance Intensive Programs.

This year promoters of Plie For the Arts promises two evening of spectacular performances by world renowned dancers.  The ‘Amalgamation; Global Edition’ will feature principal dancers from:  the NY City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre; The Cuban National Ballet; Canada’s reigning World of Dance Champions, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and Jamaica’s own Plie Collective.  This collective consist of 15 dancers from the NDTC, LaCadco, United Caribbean Dance Force, The Company Dance Theater, Ashe Company and the Movements Dance Company.

The 2018 show featured Prima Ballerina, Misty Copeland. The Global Edition in 2019 featured principal dancers from the following  (9) world renowned companies and countries:  The Bolshoi Ballet (Russia), NY City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre (USA), The Cuban National Ballet (Cuba), The Royal Ballet of London (UK), The National Dance Company of Mexico (Mexico), The Royal Winnipeg Ballet (Canada), Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre (USA), dancers from Kazakhstan and Spain and the Jamaica’s Plie Collective, which consists of dancers from the NDTC, LaCadco, The Company Dance Theatre, Movements Dance Company and the Ashe Company.
