The Jamaica Golf Association will host its 2019 Jamaica Open here at Tryall on December 11th – 14th. The Jamaica Open is a 54 hole stroke-play championship for Professionals and elite Amateur. The tournament, which started in 1953, has the distinction of being the first Caribbean Open and has been won by international golfing greats such as Roberto de Vicenzo, Jim Ferree, Bob Toski, Barry Lane, Lee Elder, Bruce Fleisher and Jim Thorpe. It has also unearthed local golfing personalities like Jasper Markland and Seymour Rose, who have won the Open. In recent times, the event has been played at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Club and at the Half Moon Golf Club.
The Jamaica Open has attracted tour players, including Russ Cochran, Olin Browne, Guy Boros, and Tom Gillis. Last year, Hernan Borja, a Latino America Tour player, won the Open.
