 Be Jamaican for a week...
So you’re coming to Jamaica and you wonder what Jamaicans do with their time. Well, given the complexities of Jamaican society, one can spend forever ...
Pineapple Ball 2008
Previous Pineapple Balls have been fun-filled events where Jamaicans and internationals get together to “enjoy making good things happen,” fantastic Jamaican musicians cause no foot to stand still, attendees dine on fine fare and liquors, bid on the best of Jamaican art and craft and vie for fabulous vacations and attractions in the island’s premier Silent Auction. The annual Pineapple Ball is organized by the Jamaica Committee (TJC), a 501 © 3 US Not for Profit Corporation which distributes proceeds from the fund raisers to organizations and individuals in Jamaica, mainly in the field of education. From Pineapple Ball 2006, TJC distributed in excess of J$3,000,000.00. Over the years, TJC has built up a steadily expanding group of loyal attendees some of whom jet in from various US cities and from as far away as Great Britain to do their part and “enjoy making good things happen.” Jamaican hotels and businesses are generous supporters of TJC efforts, giving their products, funds and support to the cause of bettering the lives of Jamaicans. Every year patrons in the capacity filled Grand Ballroom at the Ritz jived and gyrated to the wonderful performances. Awardees receive the crystal pineapple as the universal symbol of hospitality – a recognized Jamaican trait, and a scholarship in the awardees name is funded by the Jamaica Committee in the chosen field. If you "enjoy making good things happen" then the place to be is here. Call your travel agent today!!!
