Meet the JTB
The Jamaica Tourist Board Groups and Conventions team is committed to helping you with all aspects of your meeting, convention or incentive program. As your partner, the JTB not only promises to make your event pleasurable and memorable, we will also provide a host of services designed to ensure every stage of the planning process and all aspects of the visit go well.
Our Services
The island has accommodations to suit groups of all sizes. We will guide you through site inspections and airline selections, banqueting services and entertainment choices, business centres and ground transportation. If you like, we'll throw in a few suggestions for exciting tours and attractions. Your needs will be communicated to qualified industry suppliers to facilitate a competitive bidding process, helping you to receive the best product for the best price. We will even provide you with a range of promotional materials including destination information brochures, customised shells for overprinting, posters, point-of-purchase displays, slides and videos - all designed to support your programme.
Customs Waivers
Should you wish to make your event that much more special by including material and equipment, such as gifts, trophies, or bottles of champagne, brought from abroad, you will need to apply to the Ministry of Finance for a waiver of customs duties and bonds. The Jamaica Tourist Board Groups and Conventions Department will be happy to help you through this process. Your application must be received no fewer than 20 working days before date of shipment and travel. Almost all shipments will need the services of a customs broker.
You will need to:
1. Provide the name of the group, purpose of the visit, dates, number of people, ground operator, and group leader.
2. Supply complete shipping information, including airway bill and date of arrival in Jamaica.
3. Write a complete description of items to be shipped (including quantities), including approximate value and serial numbers. Where appropriate copies of invoices should be attached.
Application for Waiver of Duty Bond
Air Cargo/Freight valued at US$1000 - US$4,999.99 will require the completion of a C79 Form and may be cleared by your Ground Tour Operator. Shipments valued at over US$5000 will require the completion of a C78 or C25 Form as well as the services of a customs broker.
