JAMAICA’S RESORT CAPITAL TO HOST REGIONAL FOOTBALL WORLD CUP QUALIFYING TOURNAMENT, FEBRUARY 14-27

Jamaica’s resort capital Montego Bay will be buzzing with excitement from February 14-27 as it hosts twelve top football nations from North America, Central America and the Caribbean for the CONCACAF Under 17 World Cup qualifiers.
The teams, including Jamaica, Canada, the United States, Costa Rica, Honduras, Haiti, Cuba, Guatemala, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados and El Salvador, will battle at Jarrett Park and the Catherine Hall Stadium in Montego Bay. The top four teams will advance to this summer’s FIFA Under-17 World Cup, June 18 - July 10, where they will join host Mexico.
“Jamaica is proud to welcome the region’s top youth footballers along with their families for this competition.  They will also have an opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of our beautiful island,” says John Lynch, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism and Chairman of the Jamaica Tourist Board. “We are happy to showcase the beauty of Jamaica and offer our warm hospitality to the players, their families and tournament officials. Visitors traveling to witness this spectacle are guaranteed a great time in a great destination," said Lynch.

The competition kicks off on February 14 with first round action in Group A where Haiti will take on Costa Rica and in Group B with Cuba taking on the United States. On February 15, the competition will have its official opening ceremony at Catherine Hall starting at 2:00 pm to be followed by Group C action with Jamaica taking on regional archrivals Trinidad & Tobago at 3:00 pm.
